The Nashville Predators Match Shea Webers 14-year $110 Million offer sheet

So Nashville has finally fired back on the offer sheet that Shea Weber signed with the Philadelphia Flyers, which would have put him in a new home with a 14-year $110 million deal.  They have gone and matched what is now the second largest NHL contract in history.

This was a big move, locking their captain up and saving what solidity they have within the team.  He is the face of their franchise and Predators fans must feel relieved he’s staying in town.  Is this the right move? Who knows… Financially it is, that’s for sure, but career wise in pursuing a chance at a Stanley Cup, I don’t know.

Weber is not eligible for trade as of next summer and in my opinion I would get out of dodge ASAP.  Only time will tell if this was the right move, but until then lets keep our fingers crossed that Shane Doan ends up in New York.
