Well taking continuous hit after continuous hit on the blue line isn’t stopping them from packing a punch up front on offense.  Philadelphia has re-signed Wayne Simmonds to a 6-year contract extension keeping him around until he is 29 years old.  Simmonds was very excited about being re-signed at the ripe young age of 23 by saying:

”I don’t feel pressure, but obviously I’m going to go out there, and I work as hard as I can every day whether it’s on the ice or off the ice,” Simmonds said. ”I think I’m going to continue to progress as a player, and I’m going to do everything I can to help the Philadelphia Flyers win.”

”I think it’s been a great place for me,” he said. ”I signed this extension just hoping that we could bring a Stanley Cup to Philadelphia. I just want to be another piece of the puzzle. I think we have a great young core put in place. Obviously this is where I want to be for a long time.”

After a pretty solid season as far as number goes with 49 points this is a big pick up for the Flyers, still not enough to hand with New York but still a good pick up.  There was no number attached to this deal but I’m sure it was a nice lump sum of money to keep this guy around.

Let’s just hope there is a season no and we can see this guy play.
